Carlos St. James, the president of the Argentine Renewable Energies Chamber, voted “Biofuels Personality of the Year” by Biofuels Digest readers

Reflecting the global nature of the biofuels industry and the geographically diverse readership base of Biofuels Digest, Carlos St. James, the founder and president of the Argentine Renewable Energies Chamber was voted “Biofuels Personality of the Year” by the readers of BiofuelsDigest.com.

St. James received 47 percent of the votes, while last year’s winner, John H. Rivera of Sustainable Power, received 28 percent of the votes. POET CEO Jeff Broin placed third in the balloting with 7 percent of the votes, while ten other candidates divided the remaining 18 percent.

St. James, a citizen of the U.S., Argentina and the European Union, has a master’s degree in international relations from the Fletcher School of Law & Diplomacy at Tufts University; this award reflects his efforts to promote awareness of the potential that clean energies have to redirect Latin American economies, and his work to develop new leadership in the region. He sits on the boards of organizations in the U.S., Germany, Brazil and Argentina, and in 2008 spoke at a dozen international conferences in the U.S., Mexico, Canada, Germany, Brazil, Czech Republic, and Argentina.
