In Massachusetts, Mascoma has expanded its Scientific Advisory Board with two appointments from MIT faculty. Dr. Chris Kaiser is head of the Biology Department at MIT, and manages a lab studying protein folding and membrane protein sorting. Dr. Dianne K. Newman is a professor of geobiology, and studies geochemically significant reactions. Mascoma said that the addition of the two experts would expand the company’s understanding of key technologies for cellulosic biomass conversion.
