In California, 29 new E85 pumps are planned to be launched between Placerville and Vacaville by May 2009, according to officials at the Sacramento Metropolitan Air Quality Management District. The officials confirmed that two stations have already broken ground. California has 300,000 flex-fuel cars capable of running on E85, and the Sacramento district received $3.5 million from the state Air Resources Board to subsidize the E-85 projects. Conversion costs are projected at $175,000 per facility, and typical facilities expect to sell 360,000 gallons per E85 pump per year.
