FedEx announced that it has set a goal of reducing CO2 emissions in its fleet operations 20 percent by 2020, through a combination of new fuel-efficient aircraft and 29 other energy efficiency measures. The company said that it has reduced its emissions by 3.7 percent since 2005. The company said that it would replace aging Boeing 727s with 757s, increasing fuel efficiency by 36 percent for that sector of its fleet, with another 18 percent in the long-haul fleet by converting from MD11s to Boeing 777s.
