W2 Energy deploys new turbine increasing heat-to-power efficiency from 30 to 80 percent, in 105 gallons per ton waste-to-energy system

In Canada, W2 Energy said that it will deploy a new small stream turbine in its waste-to-energy process that will increase conversion of heat energy to electricity from 30 percent to 80-90 percent. The company owns an Ontario-based pilot plant that converts 4 tons per day of tires, municipal solid waste, plastics and coal into liquid hydrocarbons including low-sulphur diesel and gasoline at a yield of 105 gallons per ton. The new steam turbine will generate a steady output of 500 KW from the 4-ton pilot facility. The company says that it has the technology to develop a 1500 ton per day biomass-to-liquid plant.
