In Nebraska, Aventine Renewable Energy announced that it has suspended construction on its 113 Mgy corn ethanol plant in Aurora. The company said that the construction halt was scheduled to last six months, and was in response to the economic outlook for ethanol. The company last month delayed the completion of the plant by three months. In August, the company had said to shareholders that it had improved its liquidity and had sufficient cash to complete its construction projects. The company’s expansion of the Mount Vernon, Indiana plant to 63 Mgy in capacity remains on track.
