In the Dominican Republic, W2E Resources announced that it will construct a $200 million plant that converts agricultural and municipal solid waste, including sugar cane bagasse, to ethanol and power. The company said that it is completing an environmental impact statement and engineering plans now, and would commence construction next year with completion expected in 2010. The company said that the project will utilize municipal garbage from Santo Domingo East, Boca Chica, Punta Caucedo Port and the airport area.
