Kinder Morgan to commence ethanol shipments via Central Florida pipeline; eliminates 40 trucks per day, up to 3 cents in shipping cost
In Texas, oil pipeline giant Kinder Morgan said that it will commence transporting ethanol via the 106-mile Central Florida pipeline from the Port of Tampa to the company’s fuel terminal near Orlando. Local retailers said that it costs 3 cents a gallon to ship ethanol by truck from the Port to Orlando, but were unsure whether fuel wholesalers would pass along the savings to retailers and consumers, or pocket the added margin. The switch to pipeline-based transport will remove 40 trucks per day from local highways, according to BizJournals.
