In Illinois, Illinois River Energy announced a plan to construct a $120 million, 50 Mgy corn ethanol plant in the town of Oregon. The announcement represents one of the first Midwest-based new corn ethanol projects announced this year, while numerous projects have been placed on hold or cancelled die the to economic situation. The project will be supported by $4 million in grants from the state of Illinois.
