The Americas Society and the Council of the Americas published an outline of the “Energy Partnership for the Americas” proposed by President-elect Barack Obama during the US Presidential campaign. The group reported on Obama’s support for increased ties with Brazil by developing biofuels markets, and the promotion of biofuels-related jobs and technology. However, the group did not sound an optimistic note on chances that an Obama administration would reverse ethanol subsidies and eliminate a tariff on Brazilian ethanol.
