Brazilian ethanol equipment, machinery orders down 22 percent; 28 percent of projects postponed as economic crisis felt

In Brazil, the national center for sugar and ethanol research said that orders for machinery and equipment for the 2008-09 sugarcane season have dropped 22 percent, and 28 percent of projects have been postponed. The global financial crisis was blamed for the delays and cancellations. Cancelled orders represented new ethanol mills or plant updates to support power co-generation.
