McCain, Obama candidates for Energy, Agriculture, EPA, Interior and climate czar
In Washington, names for a potential Obama administration energy team were published in a Grist article. Candidates for Secretary of Energy include Jason Grumet, Ed Rendell and Dan Reicher. The short list for EPA Administrator includes Environmental Protection Agency administrator Mary Nichols, Kathleen McGinty and Dan Esty. For Secretary of Agriculture, candidates include Gov. Tom Vilsack, Tom Buis, and Stephanie Herseth Sandlin. For Secretary of the Interior, Brian Schweitzer, Jamie Rappaport Clark and Jay Inslee. Grist also speculated on the establishment of a Cabinet-level climate change czar, with Gov. Bill Richardson, Terry Tamminen or Al Gore mentioned. The Grist recap contains bios of the prospects.
On the Republican side, Grist looks at candidates, which include Sen. Pete Domenici, Heather Wilson, and Oklahoma Sen. Jim Inhofe as energy secretary candidates, with former CIA Director James Woolsey, and Gov. Arnold Schwartzenegger as candidates for climate czar. Dirk Kempthorne and Jon Huntsman have been tipped for Interior, Calvin Dooley, Iowa Rep. Jim Leach or Nebraska Sen. Ben Nelson, a Democrat, for Agriculture. Sen. Joe Lieberman and Sherwood Boehlert are said to be prospects for EPA Administrator.
