Biofuels Digest Index gains 1.97 percent to 54.40 despite VeraSun Energy plunge

The Biofuels Digest Index™ (BDI), a basket of public biofuels stocks, rose 1.97 percent to close at 54.40. Archer Daniels Midland (ADM) rose 2.10 percent  to close at $21.42, while VeraSun Energy (VSE) dropped 53.33 percent to $0.49 on bankruptcy fears. Among small caps, Gushan (GU) rose 23.02 percent to $3.42 on a favorable analyst report. Overall, advances led declines 5 to 4 for the day.
