In Brazil, Petrobras, Portugal’s Galp Energia, and EDP Energias do Brasil signed a biodiesel partnership agreement in Bahia at the 9th annual Brazil-Portugal Summit. The project will develop 600,000 tons of vegetable oil in Brazil and 500,000 tons of biodiesel; half of the biodiesel will be produced in Portugal, the remainder at a location to be determined. The project will be divided into two pahses. The three companies will also pursue wind and hydroelectric projects, as well as development of gas-fired and bagasse-fired power plants.
