Biofuels Digest Index falls 3.89 percent to 48.28 on VeraSun Energy alarm

The Biofuels Digest Index™ (BDI), a basket of public biofuels stocks, fell 3.89 percent to 48.28 as VeraSun Energy (VSE) experienced a meltdown. Archer Daniels Midland (ADM) gained 2.00 percent to close at $17.88,  while VeraSun fell 37.39 percent to $0.72 on rumors over the company’s viability . Among small caps, Raven Biofuels (RVBF.OB) fell 25.00 percent to $0.39. Overall, declines led advances 5 to 1 for the day.
