In Fiji, Bio-Fuels International has proposed a $174 million, 217,000 acre pongamia project that will produce feedstock for biodiesel. The proposed project would be the fourth for Fiji, joining proposed projects for cassava ethanol, sugarcane ethanol and coconut biodiesel. Bio-Fuels International said that it is considering other sites in the South Pacific for what it calls a “Renewable Energy Transformation Initiative”.
