In the Netherlands, Royal DSM announced the execution of the first $7.4 million phase of a cellulosic ethanol enzyme development grant from the US Department of Energy. Under the agreement, a Royal DSM-led consortium including Abengoa Bioenergy New Technologies, Los Alamos National Laboratory and Sandia National Laboratory will focus on developing cost-effective enzyme solutions for advanced biofuels. DSM will fund the majority of research and locate the project at its offices in New Jersey. The four-year project will cost $33 million in total.
