Biofuels Digest Index falls 8.12 percent to 49.77 amidst global stock retreat

The Biofuels Digest Index™ (BDI), a basket of public biofuels stocks, fell 8.12 percent to 49.77 as world markets took another huge hit on renewed economic fears.  Archer Daniels Midland (ADM) fell 7.96 percent to $17.92, while VeraSun Energy (VSE)  fell 12.50 percent to $1.54 to lead an ethanol rout. Among small caps, Environmental Power (EPG) fell 17.71 percent to $0.79. Overall, declines led advances by 16 to 1 for the day.
