The Biofuels Digest Index™ (BDI), a basket of public biofuels stocks, jumped 11.54 percent to 56.92 as talk of a new economic stimulus package, plus improvements in leading economic indicators, brought buyers back into the general market and energy stocks. Archer Daniels Midland (ADM) rose 8.52 percent to $19.88, while Cosan (CZZ) leapt 18.54 percent to $3.58. Among small caps, Raven Biofuels (RVBF.OB) gained 14.29 percent to close at $0.40. Overall, advances led declines by 2 to 1 for the day.
