USDA study links higher e.coli level to dried distillers grains

A major USDA study has linked use of dried distillers grains to increased levels of the e.coli bacteria in cattle, raising health concerns. The study’s authors said that they found 15 percent of cattle fed a 40 percent DDG ration had e.coli in their fecal matter, compared to 1.5 percent in the control group fed a corn ration. The authors cautioned that they could not conclude that all of the impact was due to diet.
