In Spain, the national government announced that it has set a minimum biofuels content of 3.9 percent in all fuels for 2009, up from 3.4 percent today. The government confirmed that it is confident that it can reach its target of a 5.83 percent biofuels blending by 2010. The EU recently adjusted the European biofuels target of 10 percent to 6 percent from biofuels, with an additional 4 percent coming from electricity and hydrogen. Recently, Spanish biofuel producer Abengoa re-commenced production at its 40 Mgy ethanol plant in Salamanca.
