Sustainable Power signs 300 ton per day municipal solid waste contract; will convert to power, biocrude
In Texas, Sustainable Power announced that it has signed an agreement with Amecks to acquire a supply of 300 tons per day of pelletized municipal solid waste, which will be converted into power by the company’s Rivera process reactors. Sustainable Power will receive $35 per ton for accepting municipal solid waste.
The company has previously reported that it produces 10 times as much power, per ton of biomass, as MSW incinerators. The partners did not disclose Amecks participation in revenues or profits from power generation, but Jerry Ketterer, President of Amecks, said, “We are excited that this partnership with Sustainable Power allows us to not only profit from the amazing technology I witnessed at Sustainable Power, but also helps to alleviate the nation’s waste problems.”
SSTP Chairman John Rivera commented that the company has optimized its power output from the Rivera process, which now has an 85 percent gas output. The company said that it has a bilateral agreement in development to sell its green power at 20 cents per KWh.
