Today in Biofuels Opinion: “Who cares about the environment? Am I going to have a house next week?”

Fred Weiss, a carbon offset seller based: “People still come to the site, but where you used to get people signing up [for offsets] every day, now you’d be lucky to get a few people a week: [people think:] “Who cares about the environment? Am I going to have a house next week?”

Yu Qingtai, China’s special representative for climate change talks: “As far as the Copenhagen [climate treaty] process is concerned, my personal assessment is unfortunately fairly pessimistic…things have moved forward in an extremely difficult way and the progress achieved is extremely limited. {the global financial crisis should not be] used as an excuse by the developed country governments for not meeting their commitments”.
