Biofuels Digest Index falls 4.29 percent to 52.59 amidst Black Monday for world markets

The Biofuels Digest Index™ (BDI), a basket of public biofuels stocks, fell 4.29 percent to close at 52.59. Among biofuels, ethanol pure-plays were the hardest hit, with Aventine Renewable Energy (AVR) hurtling down to $2.01, a loss of 22.4 percent for the day. Pacific Ethanol (PEIX) fell 15.6 percent to $1.08, while VeraSun Energy (VSE) fell 12.4 percent to $1.84.
