Aventine Renewable Energy delays opening of 113 Mgy corn ethanol plant in Nebraska

In Nebraska, Aventine Renewable Energy announced that it would delay the opening of its 113 Mgy corn ethanol plant in Aurora by three months, with opening date moved back to the second quarter of 2009 from the first quarter. No reason was offered by management for the delay, prompting observers to speculate that financing difficulties are the cause, after several pure-play ethanol companies ran into a cash crunch this summer in the wake of soaring corn prices.
