In Ireland, the national government officially lowered the national biofuels target from 5.75 percent to 3 percent for 2010, citing price and sustainability concerns. The government, however, affirmed its commitment to bring the country to the EU country target of 10 percent renewables by 2020. The Irish government added that all biofuels that are counted towards the mandate must follow soon-to-be-released EU sustainability standards.
