Today in Biofuels Opinion: “We’re subsidizing oil, gas and coal … [McCain] supports that. Yet he doesn’t want to support our farmers.”

Iowa Gov. Chet Culver:We’re subsidizing oil, gas and coal companies to the tune of tens of billions of dollars a year. [McCain] supports that. Yet he doesn’t want to support our farmers in rural Iowa and America when it comes to finding alternatives to imported petroleum.”

McCain campaign spokeswoman Wendy Riemann: “John McCain supports being energy independent and advocates the use of alternative forms of energy, including ethanol, competing in the free market. He believes that the government must be an ally but not an arbiter in the progress of alternative energy sources, such as wind, solar, geothermal, tide and hydroelectric.”
