Biofuels Digest Index falls 7.84 percent to new low of 59.69 amidst Wall Street wipeout

The Biofuels Digest Index™ (BDI), a basket of public biofuels stocks, lost a record 7.84 percent Monday to close at an all time low of 59.69 amidst a Wall Street wipeout occasioned by the failure of the US House of Representatives to pass the banking bailout bill. For the day, Archer Daniels Midland (ADM) fell 13.21 percent to $20.49, while VeraSun Energy (VSE) soared 139.52 percent, a BDI daily record gain, to close at $4.00. Among small caps, Nova Biosource Fuels (NBF) fell 48.28 percent to $0.15. Overall, declines led advances 2 to 1 for the day.
