In Washington State, Snohomish County officials dedicated a new seed crushing facility that will be used to support the conversion of local canola into biodiesel. In its initial phase, the facility will support canola grown on 400 acres, but expansion is planned for support of up to 4,000 acres of canola, mustard and sunflower. The country plans to generate power for the facility from county landfill methane, and will use the biodiesel to power its diesel fleet.
