In Texas, Panda Ethanol said that it had fired biomass-to-ethanol contractor Lurgi, saying that its board of directors “lost confidence in Lurgi’s ability to finish the facility due to continued construction delays.” The company said that it would take over supervision of the 115 Mgy project, which it said that it may require additional financing to complete. The company added that the plant is 98 percent complete. In related news, the Digest reported yesterday that a major Australian project was canceled when Lurgi did not allegedly meet its financial commitments.
