EU, US biofuels policies diverge over mandates, sustainability

Carbon Positive reviewed the emerging dichotomy between EU and US biofuel policy, with the EU set to roll back biofuels targets of 5.75 percent in 2010 and 10 percent in 2020 over sustainability and emissions concerns. By contrast, the US looks set to stay with its ambitious Renewable Fuel Standard, which aims to replace nearly 25 percent of projected fuel demand in 2022 with renewable fuel.
