In France, the Futurol project, an advanced biofuels R&D project aimed at the “development and marketing of a complete production process for 2nd generation bioethanol from whole plants or from lignocellulosic biomass,” received a $43 million grant from the French development agency OSEO. The project, which is raising a total of $107 million for the eight-year research agenda, will construct a pilot plant at Pomacle- Bazancourt, in Marne.
