In Illinois, Caterpillar approved ASTM-spec B20 biodiesel for its entire range of compact and mid-size engines. The company said that the growth of biodiesel’s popularity and the increased use of B20 were catalysts for the decision to test higher blends, which concluded successfully. The announcement covers the C0.5 through C2.2 Tier 4 Interim, the C4.4, C4.4 ACERT and C6.6 ACERT Tier 3/Stage IIIA engines.
