In Brazil, Bunge announced that, through its Brazilian subsidiary Bunge Alimentos, it purchased a 60 percent stake in the 1.4 million tonne Monteverde Agroenergetica mill, under construction in central Brazil. The new plant, which is scheduled to commence operation in 2009, will produce sugar, ethanol and electricity.
