In Florida, Kinder Morgan Partners announced that they plan to test the transport of a 336,000 gallon batch of ethanol through its 105-mile gasoline pipeline between Orlando and Tampa. The test is an investigation of alternatives to the construction of dedicated ethanol pipelines, which are estimated to cost $1 million per mile, or $105 million for the comparable Orlando-Tampa transit. Kinder Morgan said that they would expand to commercial scale ethanol distribution by the end of the year if test results are favorable.
