World Vision Australia calls for suspension of global ethanol subsidies pending definitive research on food price impact

World Vision Australia has called for the suspension of all ethanol subsidies worldwide, pending further research on biofuels, rising food prices and land-use diversion. The Australian ethanol industry receives $40 million in subsidies per year, and World Vision said that incentives were causing a food shortage elsewhere in the world.
