Obama reinforces support for Renewable Fuel Standard, sharpening debate with McCain over biofuel policy

Senator Barack Obama of Illinois told members of the National Farmers Union by telephone that “I’ve long been a strong supporter of the RFS. I am strongly committed to advancing biofuels as a key component of reducing our dependence on foreign oil.” Last week, John McCain called for the repeal of the Renewable Fuel Standard, and an end to all biofuel subsidies and mandates.
