Arizona State researchers develop kerosene aviation fuel from algae; UVa team improves algae yields 40 percent in new process

A research team from Arizona State University has received $3 million from Heliae Development and Strategic Research Group, for a process that creates a kerosene-like aviation fuel from algae. The group has moved from bench to pilot scale for its process, which they project will lower the cost of kerosene fuel.

Meanwhile, a research team at the University of Virginia said that they have developed a more efficient means for algae cultivation, with a yield increase of more than 40 percent.
