Today in Biofuels Opinion: “If ethanol dead ends at 10 percent, then rising corn production will again be eligible for subsidization.”
From HPJ.com: “Ethanol is quickly approaching 10 percent of total liquid fuel use in this country. When that occurs, and the renewable fuel standard is exceeded, there will be a glut of ethanol on the market…If ethanol dead ends at 10 percent, then rising corn production will again be eligible for subsidization due to low prices.”
From an editorial in the Savannah News: “The Democrats’ save-the-planet tunnel vision, combined with the Republicans’ save-the-economy tunnel vision, places the American consumer in a Catch 22 situation, where their only option is to continue forking over bails of cash to fill their gas tanks or heat and cool their homes…In an initiative co-founded by Mr. Chambliss, R-Ga., and Sen. Kent Conrad, D-N.D., the two senators and 14 of their cohorts in the upper chamber have banded together to push a combination energy plan. The plan wisely pumps $20 billion into development of petroleum-free vehicles, while simultaneously easing restrictions on construction of oil refineries and nuclear plants. The “Gang of 16″ senators would lift the ban on oil and natural gas drilling off the U.S. coast….A majority in Congress, working with either a President Obama or McCain, should say “yes” to this needed compromise.
