In South Carolina, East Coast Ethanol said that it was continuing with plans to raise $843 million to build 440 Mgy in corn ethanol capacity in the Southeast, including a 115 Mgy proposed facility in Chester. The EIA has estimated Southeastern ethanol demand at 2.3 billion gallons per year, sparking interest among ethanol ventures. East Coast has proposed additional facilities in Florida, North Carolina and Georgia.
