POET to open 65 Mgy corn ethanol plant in Ohio; yields rising to 2.9 gallons per bushel
In Ohio, POET announced that its 65 Mgy corn ethanol plant at Marion will officially open on October 24th with an event attended by US Senators George Voinovich and Sherrod Brown.

Pacific Ethanol launches 60 Mgy corn ethanol plant in California
In California, Pacific Ethanol has commenced production at its 60 Mgy corn ethanol facility at Stockton. The plant will also produce 500,000 tons of wet distillers grains as livestock feed for the San Joaquin Valley dairy industry. The plant’s opening brings the company’s total operating capacity to 220 Mgy.
Southridge signs 15 Mgy ethanol offtake contract for its Brazilian plant with Hong Kong trader
In Texas, Southridge Enterprises has signed an agreement to ship 15 Mgy of sugar cane ethanol to Hong Kong’s Jinsung Ho Trading Group. The ethanol will be shipped from Southridge’s Petrozilian Energia project in Brazil. The company is also developing an ethanol project in El Salvador.

California slashes fees for personal waste oil collection for biodiesel
In California, Governor Schwarzenegger inked Assembly Bill 1846 that will reduce fees by more than 80 percent for individuals who collect and haul inedible kitchen oils and grease for personal use as biodiesel feedstock.
