The New York Times is reporting that plans for extended deployment of wind energy as well as other renewable energy sources is threatened by an obsolete power grid. The electro-mechanical grid provides a threat to most power-based emissions reduction schemes, including the Pickens Plan that requires transmission of wind energy, and the expansion of plug-in hybrids using renewable electricity.
