DFI Group proposes 20 Mgy in new algae oil, waste biodiesel capacity for Arkansas; 110 Mgy ethanol plant mulled

In Arkansas, DFI Group has proposed twin algae and waste biodiesel plants in Jermoe. The North Carolina developer said that the 20 Mgy facility would cost $36 million to complete and would be open in 2009 if permitting is swiftly completed. The company will utilize algae oil harvested from catfish ponds, and waste animal fats among its feedstocks.

The company has also proposed a third 110 Mgy cellulosic ethanol plant in Ashley County that would utilize switchgrass, crop and forest products residues, and algae cake among its feedstocks.
