In South Dakota, the EPA is attempting a crackdown on the use of E30 by non flex-fuel cars. A letter released by the agency requested that retailers put warning labels on E30 gas pumps, and locking mechanisms, to prevent motorists from pumping E30 in non flex-fuel vehicles. The American Petroleum Institute confirmed that it had encouraged the letter by the EPA to “clarify the issue”. According the theadvertiser.com, E30 in South Dakota’s Sioux Valley is retailing for up to 30 cents less than conventional gasoline.
