In Pennsylvania, state lawmakers have approvd $5.3 million in subsidies and incentives for local biodiesel production. The incentives will expire after a three-year priod. The subsidies will allow Pennsylvania biodiesel plants, which are running under capacity because of competition from subsidized biodiesel produced in other states, to increase their production rates. Seven plants in Pennsylvania will be eligible for the incentives, and the plants are said to be planning to establish a cooperative organization in cooperation with the state Department of Agriculture and the Pennsylvania Farm Bureau.
