In Vietnam, PetroVietnam has established a biofuels subsidiary that will produce and market cvassava-based ethanol. 85 percent of the venture will be owned by various entities controlled by PetroVietnam, while the remainder will be owned by Binh Son Refining and Petrochemical. The national government previously set a target to producing 250,000 tonnes of ethanol, or a 1 percent national biofuel conversion by 2015, and is investigating biofuel production from cassava, sugar cane and seaweed.
