In Brazil, Mines and Energy Minister Edison Lobão and United States Deputy Secretary of Energy Jeffrey Kupfer met, and reaffirmed areas of cooperation on biofuels, including advanced biofuels research, promotion of energy investment, cooperation on clean coal technology, coal GHG mitigation technology cooperation, and continued action within the International Biofuels Forum towards global biofuels market and testing standards. Brazil has recently threatened to take the United States to the World Trade Organization over the US ethanol tariff.
