50,000 hectare jatropha plantation proposed for the Philippines
In the Philippines, Japanese and Korean investors have backed the Safi Agro Industries plant to cultivate 50,000 hectares of jatropha, and the company said that it has commenced cultivation of seedlings at a 100-hectare nursery in Sarangani. The company said that Sarangani Bio will produce 31 Mgy of biodiesel from jatropha oil grown on the plantation.
