Biofuels Digest Index rockets up 4.70 percent to 85.02 on ethanol surge

The Biofuels Digest Index™ (BDI), a basket of public biofuels stocks, jumped 4.70 percent Friday to close the week at 85.02 on a surge in ethanol stocks.  For the day, Archer Daniels Midland (ADM) gained 4.47 percent to close at $29.92, while VeraSun Energy (VSE) gained 21.19 percent to close at $6.12, Pacific Ethanol (PEIX) gained 16.93 percent to reach $2.21, and Aventine Renewable Energy (AVR) gained 10.16 percent to close at $6.18. Overall, advances led declines 2 to 1 for the day.
