Frontline Bioenergy teams with Fagen to convert ethanol plants from natural gas to biomass for heat and power
Frontline Bioenergy announced a new partnership with Fagen, the ethanol industry’s premier construction company, to convert existing and new ethanol plants from natural gas to biomass gasification for heat, steam and power. Frontline previously partnered with Chippewa Valley Ethanol to reduce the company’s $13 million natural gas bill by 90 percent with a biomass gasifier. Frontline says that its technology enables plants to replace natural gas with renewable energy from wood residue.
In Minnesota, the state Department of Commerce’s Office of Energy Security awarded $150,000 to Chippewa Valley Ethanol for an evaluation of the plant’s process for producing energy from corn cobs. The plant utilizes the cobs to provide heat for the plant, in lieu of natural gas.
